History

Hamirpur district was part of Jalandhar, and was closely attached with katoch dynasty, Hamirpur was carved out in 1972 from Kangra.
Hamirpur district is producer of soldiers and so called as 'Veer Bhumi'. Maximum number of soldiers are from Hamirpur ,in nowadays in Dogra regiment, j&k rifles etc.

Hamirpur district is located in West of Himachal pradesh between 31°25′N and 31°52′N and between 76°18′E and 76°44′E. Hamirpur is located at the altitude of about 780 Meters.

History of solan district

Solan district which is today was comprises of princely states of Bhagat Bhagal, Kunihar, Kuthar,Beja, Mangal, Mahlog, Nalagarh and parts of Keonthal and Kothi and hilly areas of Punjab State  were merged with Himachal Pradesh on 1 November 1966.
      On 1st September 1972 solan district comes to existence. The district was established by merging Arki and solan Tehsils of mahasu district and Kandaghat and Nalagarh of shimla district.

About history of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh it is believed that kolian tribe people used to stay here in this region which were later vanquished by Khasas, and khasas by Audumbaras .Audumbaras  used to worship shiva. From the time of Gupta periods this region was dominated by Thakur and Ranas.With the existence of Gurjara Pratiharas the rajput Dynasties came to power.
After the independence in 1947 , the princely state of Chamba merged with India in 1948, along with Sirmour and Mandi suket.

Geography and weather

Chamba is located between latitude of  32°11'30" and 33°13'6" North and longitude 75°49' and 77°3'30" East.
Area of chamba district is About 6528 square km.The whole area is mountain area, altitude ranging between 2 to 21 thousand feet surrounded by lofty hill ranges.
Ravi is major river of this region which passes through chamba town.Pir Panjal is main mountain range of Chamba district.The famous Dhauladhar range separates chamba from kangra district.

Temperature in this region is moderate in summers and varies from 20 to 39 degrees whereas in winters its really cool and temperature is around 0 to 15 degrees.
Pangi and bharmaur are heavy snowed area of chamba district,whereas snowfall in this region is moderate.This region comes under tribal area due to its adverse geography.

Chamba has area of around 6528 square km and population around 5,18,844.Males and females are in almost equal percentage ,they are 51% and 49% respectively.
Average literacy rate is around 73% ,male literacy is around 84% whereas female is around 62.

Culture and Music

Chamba district belong to gaddi community. They used to follow own tradition and culture, they used to wear traditional clothes. Chambiyali music is listened in this area of gaddis.
Chamba is also famous for handcrafted material like leather sandals , woolen shawls etc.Paintings of chamba is also famous which reflects culture and tradition of district as well as state and these are symbol of himalayan art.

Fairs and Festivals

There are many fairs and festivals in chamba district are celebrated but two of them are very famous across whole India and state.
  • Suhi Mata Mela - celebrated every year in March and April for four days to honour the sacrifice made by the queen of Chamba with her life, to bring water to the town.
  • Minjar Mela - It held on the second Sunday of the Shravana month,during august and celebrated to memorize victory of king of chamba over king of kangra.

  • CHAMUNDA DEVI TEMPLE- Chamunda devi mandir chamba is dedicated to goddess durga and there is a small temple of lord shiva near chamunda temple.
  • LAXMI NARAYAN TEMPLE- Lakshmi narayan mandir chamba is one of the oldest temple of chamba district. This is one of the largest temple in the town and as name suggest it is dedicated to lord narayan and maa lakshmi

Most Parts of Himachal is hilly but some districts are also plain areas.The state is situated at altitudes ranging from about 1,473 ft to 21,320 ft above sea level.

Demographics

Total population of Himachal Pradesh is around 6,856,509 iout of which 3,473,892 males and 3,382,617 females(Census of India 2011) and density of Himachal pradesh is around123 per square km. This population is 0.57 % of India's total population, gaining a growth of 12.81 per cent. Himachal Pradesh has a literacy rate of 83.78 per cent and gender ratio at 974/1000, according to the 2011 Census figures.

The main communities in the state are Rajputs, Rathis, Brahmins and Ghirth. Himachal has a good number of population of Tibetans as the Mcleodganj is the capital of Tibetan Govt, Other religions that contain a small percentage are Buddhism and Sikhism.

Languages

Hindi is the official language of Himachal Pradesh. But most of Himachali speaks Pahari Language in everyday conversation.there are more than 30 languages in Himachal. English language is also used for govt. work. Around 90 percent of Himachali speaks Hindi language.Punjabi is also spoken in some region.
The most important thing about language is that there is some minor change in language after some km of distance,which is very rare to see.

Religion

The most number of population in Himachal Pradesh is hindu .Around 95% population belongs to hindu community. But there are some others religion in some percentage as around 2% muslims, 1.5% sikh.There are some percentage of people belong to buddhism, jainism etc.
